i think this game qualifies me for nerd of the year. but it's been about 20 years of me starting and never finishing this game. i just wanted to facking finish it 1 time, is that too much to ask!? it's grown considerably over the years, it started out as a basic dungeon with set rooms and only a few monsters and treasures. now there are bustling cities and an overworld you can travel, items to trade, places to see, and secrets to find.
i have been a huge RPG fan for decades (scary to say.) my cousin got me addicted to dungeons and dragons when i was about 7 or 8, and whereas i didnt understand it much, i thought it was really fun and we played it whenever he came over. then i met some dudes in school who played d&d and from there we went on to play shadowrun, teenage mutant ninja turtles, robotech, and like everything else we could get our hands on. i eventually graduated to console and pc rpgs, and from there played my first mmorpg about 5 years ago, called Anarchy Online. i still play it here and there, and although the graphics arent fantastic anymore, if i could choose between playing that and any other mmo, AO will win hands down everytime.
and whereas i see Dungeon Hunter as extremely nerdy even by giant nerd standards, i do believe its really fun. to get set up and load up with tons of healing items and get lost for hours and bring back countless goodies to sell off and get upgrades for your gear to get more powerful and then go back into the frey and kill some more powerful monsters and areas to get even better stuff. it goes rather quick, it wont really take hours, and it's pretty basic stuff, but fun at the same time. i basically stole all of my favorite elements from my favorite RPGs and put them together into something that was easy for me to create. the best thing is that the only limit is my imagination, and if i don't like something, i can axe it.
anyways i've spent hours coding this damn thing, please give it a go, get past the initial 'don't like me a text game' thoughts and you will find that there is actually a lot of fun to be had.
